About Me
Ever since I first locked eyes with my newborn daughter seconds after delivery, thinking of the journey that brought her to my arms, I have been enamored with
birth. My passion continued with the birth of my son almost two years later. For both deliveries, I was fortunate to be surrounded by a team of people that helped to encourage and empower me, allowing me
to feel like an active participant in my birth experiences. Even with
a transfer to the hospital with my first child, I had
the information I needed to make the right decision for myself and her,
and was able to remain un-medicated. With my second, I experienced the
amazing benefits of laboring and delivering in the water. My positive experiences with how a knowledgeable and supportive team can greatly influence a labor for the better "gave birth" to my labor doula certification with CAPPA. It is my desire to help moms-to-be start the journey in having the birth experience that they have set out to attain. My goal is to equip each mom I serve with physical, informational, and emotional support as she looks forward to the birth of her baby, and be a comfort and encourager during the labor process. Certification:
I am a fully certified labor doula through CAPPA, one of the most intensive and thorough certification organizations for doulas and other birth professionals. For certification, there are many requirements, including attending births with positive evaluations, extensive reading, a CAPPA workshop, an audit of a childbirth education class, and others. In April of 2010 I completed a self-study course through Hypnobabies and became a Hypnobabies Certified Hypno Doula.
